Nearly 300 guests mingled and generously opened their hearts and wallets May 6 to support the finishing TOUCHES at Clermont Park campaign – and to honor Earl L. Wright, chairman and CEO of AMG National Trust Bank, for enriching lives in his community – during Christian Living Communities’ (CLC) fifth annual Aged to Perfection silent auction and tasting event.
The event held at Holly Creek raised more than $30,000 enabling Christian Living Communities to close out its finishing TOUCHES capital campaign providing the funding for the furnishings, accessories and small equipment to make CLC’s first community, Clermont Park, more comfortable with home touches. Clermont Park, located in University Hills, is undergoing a major redevelopment with the skilled nursing neighborhood, The Suites at Clermont Park, and a new Town Center slated for completion this fall.
“The roots of this organization run so deep that year after year, in good times and in bad, the friends of CLC remain loyal and committed to quality senior living,” said Ed Schans, CLC board chair.

Residents Assistance - The donations you make to this program provide rent, food, home care assistance and medical supplies to seniors in need. We have seen a marked increase in the requests for this type of help as seniors are outliving their savings or unexpected illnesses are eating up their precious dollars.
The reaction from one of our resident's in financial crisis upon receiving assistance says it all about the dire straits and subsequent gratitude our residents experience when helped through the program. "She came to my office with tears in her eyes and letter in hand - the look on her face was priceless! She said she could now afford to eat in the dining room at least once a day and begin to pay off her medical bills that had been piling up. She was beside herself with joy at receiving such generosity."
Planned Giving/Deferred Gifts - We accept many forms of planned giving. A partnership with the Barnabas Foundation, a Christian-based estate planning service, allows us to offer you free of charge estate planning advice and options.
Depending on your circumstances, an estate planner can recommend everything from a simple will, to living trust, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust and other options that allow you to support CLC as well as take care of your family.
Memorial Gifts/Honorariums - We accept donations in memory and honor of a loved one or a special friend. You can designate your gift for a certain community or program, or it can be left unrestricted and used where the greatest need exists. If gifts for an individual reach $1,000, we place the name of the person being memorialized on a permanent plaque at their specific community of residence.
Enrichment - You can designate an enrichment donation to a specific community to help with enrichments such as new listening devices for residents, lobby improvements or new equipment. Undesignated donations for enrichment are applied to the effort most in need or closest to its goal. For example we used general enrichment funds to help us raise funds to renovate space at The Johnson Center to duplicate our Adult Day Services. We also use enrichment gifts to support our Chaplain services.
Education Series - The care we offer our residents and clients is cutting edge and we are often looked upon as leaders in senior care. The donations you make to this program support internal training for staff and external community education seminars. For example, funds we raised in 2008 for Memory Support allow us to sponsor employee certification training through the Alzheimer's Learning Institute. Several of our staff are receiving a 32-hour certificate in dementia care, giving them the necessary tools to provide quality and loving care to those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
We feel it is our mission to share our senior care expertise with others. Donations to our education series allow us to also provide seminars to the community at large on topics such as tips for choosing senior care, stroke awareness, fall prevention, wound care and signs of Alzheimer's.
